Programme details
New manager foundations
Designed for people who have been managing a team for less than a year, or who are about to step into their first management role. The programme runs over two consecutive days, either at your offices or at our Barrowsborough training room.
Day one focuses on the mental shift from individual contributor to manager. We cover how to set expectations with your team, how to run a productive one-to-one meeting (with a template you keep), and how to delegate without micro-managing. Participants practise a delegation conversation using a real task from their own workload.
Day two tackles feedback and difficult conversations. We use a structured model that separates observation from interpretation, which makes feedback feel less personal and more actionable. The afternoon session addresses time management for managers, including how to protect thinking time when your calendar is full of meetings.
- Two full days of facilitated training (9:30 to 16:30)
- Pre-course interviews with each participant and their line manager
- Printed workbook and digital resource pack
- Personal 90-day action plan reviewed by the trainer
- Two 30-minute follow-up coaching calls over the next three months
Leading through change
Organisational change is where management skills get tested hardest. This one-day programme is aimed at managers who are leading their teams through a restructure, a system migration, a merger or any other significant shift.
The morning session covers the psychology of change resistance. We look at why people react differently to the same announcement and how to tailor your communication accordingly. Participants map their own team members onto a change-readiness framework and plan specific conversations for each person.
After lunch, we run a two-hour simulation. Participants receive a briefing pack describing a fictional (but realistic) organisational change and must hold a team meeting, respond to difficult questions and deal with an unexpected complication mid-way through. We video-record the simulation so participants can review their performance afterwards.
- One full day (9:30 to 17:00)
- Change-readiness assessment tool for your team
- Video recording of the simulation exercise
- Communication templates for change announcements
- One 45-minute follow-up coaching call
Senior leadership development
This programme is for heads of department, directors and senior managers who have been leading teams for several years but want to sharpen their strategic thinking and cross-functional influence. It runs as four half-day sessions spread over eight weeks, giving participants time to apply what they learn between sessions.
Session one: strategic prioritisation. How to distinguish between urgent and important when everything feels like both. We use a real example from each participant's current workload. Session two: influencing without authority. How to get buy-in from peers, board members and teams that do not report to you.
Session three: building a leadership culture in your department. We look at how to develop the managers who report to you so that you are not the bottleneck for every decision. Session four: personal leadership brand. What do people say about you when you leave the room, and how do you shape that deliberately?
- Four half-day sessions (9:30 to 13:00) over eight weeks
- 360-degree feedback survey administered before session one
- Structured inter-session assignments with written feedback
- Access to our senior leadership reading list and resource library
- Four 30-minute coaching calls between sessions
One-to-one coaching for managers
Sometimes a group programme is not the right fit. A manager might be dealing with a specific challenge that needs focused attention: a difficult team dynamic, preparation for a board presentation, or the transition into a newly created role.
Our coaching packages consist of six sessions of 60 minutes each, scheduled fortnightly. Each session is structured around a specific goal set by the coachee, with practical actions agreed at the end. We use a blend of reflective questioning, role-play and direct input depending on what the situation requires.
All our coaches have at least ten years of management experience and hold an ILM Level 7 coaching qualification or equivalent. We match coaches to coachees based on sector experience and personality fit, and we are happy for you to meet two coaches before choosing.
- Six 60-minute sessions over twelve weeks
- Initial chemistry session (free, 20 minutes) to check the fit
- Written session summaries and action points after each call
- Email support between sessions for quick questions

Frequently asked questions
Yes. All group programmes work well over video call. We use breakout rooms for pair exercises and send materials by post beforehand so participants have physical workbooks. The only exception is the video-recorded simulation in the change programme, which works best in person.
We run additional cohorts. Twelve is our maximum because the interactive exercises lose their value in larger groups. For organisations with 30 or more managers to train, we offer a volume discount and can schedule multiple cohorts across consecutive weeks.
Always. The pre-course interviews we conduct with participants and their line managers give us the raw material to build exercises and discussion prompts around your specific context. A programme for an NHS trust looks different from one designed for a software company, even when the underlying skills are the same.
We recommend booking at least six weeks ahead. That gives us time to conduct interviews and prepare tailored materials. For the senior leadership programme, eight weeks is ideal because we need to administer the 360-degree feedback survey before the first session.
Every programme includes follow-up coaching calls. Three months after the programme, we also send a short impact survey to participants and their managers to measure what has changed. We share the anonymised results with the commissioning organisation so you can see the return on your investment.
